GENERAL SHOW RULES

The Show will be open to the public in The Old School, South Road, Sully, from 1.00pm until 4.00pm on Saturday, 5th September 2026.

Entries should be made on the prescribed form included in the Schedule.

All entry forms to be returned by the morning of the show.

All classes are open to all who live, work or attend classes or clubs in Sully and Lavernock, Dinas Powys and Wenvoe and their grandchildren, unless otherwise stated in the Schedules. All exhibits must be the property of the exhibitor. The Show Committee reserves the right to refuse to accept any exhibits deemed by them not to be bona fide, and failure to comply with any of the general or Section-specific rules will result in the entry being disqualified.

Exhibitors must provide all vases, plates, dishes or other containers necessary for the display of their exhibits, but please avoid using valuable items. Except for Photography, Exhibitors will be responsible for the arranging of their exhibits on the designated tables and the placing of their entry cards face downwards with their exhibits. Cards may be obtained from the Show Secretary on the day of the show.

Experienced judges will be engaged and their decisions shall be final in all cases; they shall have the power to withhold any prize or prizes if exhibits are deemed not worthy thereof. Judging of the Garden Section will be conducted in accordance with the Royal Horticultural Society Handbook.

Any protest must be made in writing and lodged with the Show Secretary before 3.00pm, together with a deposit of £5, which will be refunded in the event of the protest being upheld by the Judges.

All exhibits must be delivered to The Old School by the exhibitor on Saturday, 6th September (except for Photography), at which time the judging will commence. The Entry Fee is payable in cash on delivery at The Old School.

The presentation of awards will commence at on Saturday in the Hall on the day of the show and no exhibits are to be removed from the Hall before that time. Exhibitors are free to remove their exhibits (except photographs) at any time after the presentations, but any not removed by 5.30pm may be given to charity or otherwise disposed of. Photographs will be available for collection from 30 Minehead Avenue during week commencing Monday 16th September.

The Show Committee will not be responsible for loss and/or damage to the exhibits, although they will take reasonable precautions to prevent it.

Unless otherwise stated, failure to name varieties of exhibits will not disqualify entries, but may be of advantage where competition is close.

First (£3) and Second (£2) prizes will be awarded in each category, together with a certificate. Prize money may be claimed from the Treasurer any time after 3.00pm on the day of the Show. Any money not claimed within 14 days of the Show will be forfeited.

The names of the principal winners will be published in the local press.

All cups and trophies for annual competitions awarded at the prize giving ceremony must be returned to The Old School by the 23rd August 2026.
